We spent the afternoon biking in 50 degree weather (that’s right 50 degrees in Dec). Rehoboth Beach area was pretty busy during the day because of the great temps, however the bike path was a ghost town. We biked on the Junction and Breakwater Rail Trail for a few miles (total trip was about 14 miles) and ended at the Lewes beach area.
During the evening we went and checked out the main attraction! Dogfish Head Brewpub in Rehoboth beach. This was where it all started for Dogfish Head. Sam Calagione started the brewery in 1995 and has since produced some incredible beers and supported the craft beer revolution. We had a great dinner and tried to many beers. Totally worth the trip!
In the morning, we woke to rain. It was good with us; made for a slow day at the beach and was a good opportunity to take some pictures and enjoy a nice cup of joe overlooking the ocean.
After a few pics, we rolled over to Cafe Azafran where we bumped into Sam (founder of Dogfish Head) and his father-in-law within 10 minutes of each other! It was like meeting Santa Claus for me. They were awesome guys and both wanted to checkout the Adventure Van.
Awesome weekend trip, encompassing all the things I enjoy (family, bikes, photography, BEER and new locations)! Rehoboth/Lewes in the winter is a solid trip worth doing.
